40th Anniversary Book

Slow Miracles, SOME’s newly-released 40th Anniversary book, traces the organization’s remarkable transformation from a small soup kitchen to one of the District's largest non-profit organizations through the recollections of clients, staff and community leaders, including Maya Angelou, Mark Shields and Gordon Peterson.

Published in both paperback and hardcover, this 175-page book includes more than 100 photos, from elderly men and women at SOME’s Senior Summer Camp to Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush in SOME’s Dining Room for the Homeless. Each copy of Slow Miracles also includes a seven-minute DVD created by the Opus Prize Foundation in 2007, when SOME was a finalist for the prestigious Opus Prize.
